I've traveled the world twice over,
Met the famous; saints and sinners,
Poets and artists, kings and queens,
Old stars and hopeful beginners,
I've been where no-one's been before,
Learned secrets from writers and cooks
All with one library ticket
To the wonderful world of books.

Learn as much by writing as by reading.
~ Lord Acton ~
Show me the books he loves and I shall know the man
far better than through mortal friends.
~ Dawn Adams ~
Of all the diversions of life, there is none so proper to fill up
its empty spaces as the reading of useful and entertaining authors.
~ Joseph Addison ~
Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life.

That is a good book which is opened with
expectation and closed in profit.

She is too fond of books, and it has turned her brain. (1873)

When I look back, I am so impressed again
with the life-giving power of literature.
If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of
myself in the world, I would do that again by reading,
just as I did when I was young.

Beware of the man of one book.
~ Thomas Aquinas ~
Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted;
nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider.
Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed,
and some few to be chewed and digested:
that is, some books are to be read only in parts,
others to be read, but not curiously, and some few
to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.
~ Francis Bacon ~
There are some quotes -- I really enjoyed the one about beware of the man of one book! I guess that isn't me!! hahaha
Today I will be continuing reading Fall of Giants by Ken Follett. I am really enjoying it. We follow 5 different families in the 20th century -- My favorite characters so far are Maud and Ethel. Usually I don't care for all war talk but this book just makes it more interesting and I want to stay up all night, but I know I can't so then I read even faster.
What will you be reading this weekend? Whatever it is or whatever you do, have an awesome weekend!

Book Hop! (Join in!!)

ABOUT THE HOP:
In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read! So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!
The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week, so if you don't have time to Hop today, come back later and join the fun! This is a weekly event! And stop back throughout the weekend to see all the new blogs that are added! We get over 300 links every week!!
Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.
RULES:
1. Enter your book blog link in the Linky List below
In your link, please state the main genre that you review: eclectic, contemp. fiction, ya, paranormal, mystery, non-fiction, etc. Please do not list every genre you review - if you are review a variety, please put eclectic! The Hop gets jumbled up if the title is too long, so please limit to one genre. I will be limiting the number of characters in the title to ensure the Hop doesn't look messy! Thank you!
Example: Crazy-for-Books (literary fiction)
NOTE: You no longer have to enter the length of time you've been blogging, but do let us know if this is your first time hopping with us!
2. Post about the Hop on your blog. Spread the word about the book party! The more the merrier! In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!). If you have a question that could be used in a future Hop, leave it in the comments! Thanks!
This week's question comes from:
Books Are A Girl's Best Friend
Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?
My answer: No I have thought about it but just never sat down and done something I would like and is unique to me! One day I will!
3. Visit other blogs in the Linky List! Make new friends! Follow new book bloggers! Talk about books! Rave about authors! Take the time to make a quality visit! Check out other posts and content, make a new friend! Don't randomly follow someone if you never intend on actually following them! No spamming please! (Please do not leave your link and not visit other blogs - it's just not cool and not in the spirit of the Hop!)
And just as an FYI - this event is not something you should feel that you have to participate in every week. If you want to join in and link up once a month, GREAT! It's up to you how often you participate!
So, have fun HOPPING and enjoy your BOOK PARTY weekend!!!

Review: The Rebellion of Jane Clarke
by Sally Gunning.-- Rich with lots of detail, you will want to savor this wonderful read. Jane is a young lady, living at home. However she turns down a marriage proposal and her dad is beside himself. So he sends her to Boston to take care of an older aunt.
However things at the aunt's seem suspicious. The 2 hired hands seem to be stealing from Aunt Gill, the poor old woman that can't hardly take care of herself and seems half out of her mind most of the time.
Jane is caught between 2 men, Phinnie and Henry. Which one would you choose? Will Jane's father forgive her and ask her to come home?
Read this book, things aren't always what they seem and there are LOTS of surprises in store for you!

Review: The Bikini Car Wash by Pamela Morsi
An eye full and the perfect end of the summer beach read!!! The Bikini Car Wash isn't what it really seems. I know some people will think, a bikini car wash? I don't want to read that! However, it goes beyond that. It is about fighting for something you want and believe in; finding out who you really are and love. I always love a good love story. Who doesn't? Pamela Morsi outdid herself with this one though!
I was stumped at first wondering what Pop was up to, sneaking around like that. I had my suspicions, but it was a surprise! Jelly is such a lovable character, with her Law & Order dialog. The romance between Pete and Andi was easy to see coming, but still very cute and romantic. I read this book in such a short time, Ms. Morsi writes with such ease you don't even realize how fast the pages fly by!
When Andi comes home to help take care of Jelly after their mom has passed, she applies for a job at Gutherie's Foods, to be only told she has too much experience. So her dad's old car wash has just been sitting there, wasting space. She goes in front of the town counsel to ask if she could get it rezoned for a coffee shop, only to be denied.
So she has a bit of help coming up with the bikini car wash; but they get it going. Despite a lot of people in town not wanting them to be clothed in so little -- In spite of all the negativity they end up pretty successful --
I will leave the rest for you to find out, you make sure you put this in your beach bag and take it with you, or on a long flight too! Enjoy!!!
