A Tuesday teaser!

I found this on someone else's blog and I think it would be something new and fun for 2009! So here it is:

Grab your current read
Let the book fall open to a random page
Share with us two (2) "teaser" sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
You also need to share the title of the book that you're getting your "teaser" from ... that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you've given!
Please avoid SPOILERS

"I sneak down to the kitchen when I'm supposed to be filing," Dakota said now. "Not all the time. But often enough that Andrea is pleased to see me. I even go there when Lucie's home and I don't have to watch Ginger."

This is a teaser from Knit Two by Kate Jacobs.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Resolutions!

Well I can't believe it is almost 2009! The time has FLOWN by. So I have a few resolutions.

1) No more soda, lose 5 pounds and keep up with working out.
2) Read 100 books. I think I read 64 or 65 this year!
3) Finish 80 cross stitch projects. I think I did 41 or so this year.
4) Attend women's retreat this year. I KNOW I will be blessed to attend this event with other women from my church.

What are some of yours?

Well I have another finish to share. It is the little piece from the January SMO calendar.

Thanks for visiting and happy stitching!!!

Christmas, birthday, weather oh my!

Well first off I hope everyone had a wonderful, safe and warm Christmas. We did! Quiet and really nice. Yesterday, the 26th, was Hunter's birthday. Here are some pictures of him opening presents:

Yesterday morning DH got called out. After opening presents and eating cake, Hunter and his friends were watching a movie and the girls and I thought we would have a dance off last night. DH came home I think around 9:30 PM or so. So that ended that. Lex and I dance like elephants hehehe, so we thought we would stop before we woke everyone up.

DH got called out AGAIN this morning. So I got some food ready for him, his coffee and sent him on his way. Then I made bacon and waffles from my new waffle maker!!! It was awesome. Well everyone else is ready for the day, so I am going to go get ready too. I will leave you with 2 finishes I had yesterday. Both of them are SMO. One is LOVE, and the other one is Redwork Hearts but I changed the color to the mauve color.

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

Well we have more snow! Surprise surprise! Ha not really. DH didn't have to work today but we expect he will be called out. Wahhh I am going to disconnect the phone. No, not really but I wish I had the guts to. I don't want him to have to work in this mess and be away for Christmas.

Today we have played games a bit, watched some TV. DH is working on Britt's room. Redoing the walls so we can paint in the spring. She also had to work on her dresser. She broke a drawer so he had her help fix it. Such a handy man!

Been reading a bit too. I haven't really stitched. I picked it up but kept thinking about Knit Two by Kate Jacobs, so I put it down again.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! Have a safe and warm one!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

Well we have a bit more snow, and I guess we have 24 hours before we have another one come through. Blessings, we will have a WHITE Christmas!!!! We have food, heat and a home to be in, so we are indeed very blessed. The kids are going a bit crazy, but they have been able to get out with friends a bit, before two ahhem got grounded.

We have watched movies, played games, made cookies, laughed, sang and enjoyed each other, for the most part. Tonight is our church service.

Check out my reading blog thingy at goodreads.com!

Whatta storm!

And it isn't done YET! After my last post, our power went off AGAIN. It came back on and was on for 4 hours. I was right in the middle of making some Russian Tea Cakes, finishing up dinner, trying to get everyone ready for Hunter's Christmas program. Power goes out. Of course, if the power is out, DH isn't coming home. So the kids and I lit some candles, got the battery powered radio, sang and waited. We had to leave @ 7 so I told the kids if the power wasn't back on after the program, we would head to McDonald's. Here is a picture of the Christmas program:

Photobucket

But it was on afterward. We got home, started heating up dinner and DH calls. Says everyone is running so much power that it keeps blowing. Was joking and said to tell everyone in our neighborhood to turn off everything you don't need. He finally got home around 10:30. Wed went off pretty good. Just lots of snow. We had family conference all last week at church. It just ended last night. Thursday lots of snow but good. Friday morning he got called out at 1:30 AM, came home at 5 AM. Went to work at 8 AM, got home at 4:30 PM. We were right in the middle of making dinner for the visiting pastor, when he got called out again. So I had ONE hour to get the 4 children ready, get dinner ready and eaten for us and get the dinner ready for the pastor. WHEW!!! We made it though. The girls helped a LOT. Jeff made to church at 8:30 PM. Sat the kids had play practice and then Jeff took the girls to The Dalles for the day. Hunter and I made chocolate chip cookies and played games. Yesterday we had church. During church I got a bad migraine so I came home and slept. Jeff took the kids plus 2 others sledding. Then he went and helped shovel the church parking lot. Here are some pictures from the play last night. The only one you won't see is Britt. She was the voice of God.

I have been able to stitch quite a bit. I will be back later with pictures of everything, the snow and my stitching! There is another storm we might be getting, so I hope to stay in and stitch more! Let it snow!!! Everyone stay warm, and Merry Christmas. God Bless.

Power is back!

Good morning! Well we don't have any new snow, but it is icy and COLD. 3 degrees out! EEKS! At 6 AM our power went out. We hurried out here, plugged in the old phone, kids came out and giggled at no power. They weren't giggling in a few minutes after they discovered they wouldn't be able to watch TV, cook breakfast or take a warm shower without power ehehehe. Not long after we got up, the phone honked, Dad had to go to work. Well my hero said he would get my power back on and about 30 minutes later there it was! He was teasing me though, because we got some oatmeal and toast done, 2 girls got showers and bye bye power. It went back off for about 30 more minutes. Whew! All kids are at school today. Hooray! I know they won't be doing much at school, but they still have 4 days left.

Here are a few pictures of the outside of our house at Christmas and our little snow/ice.

Oh my so I got a Christmas card and gift from Kay!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU! That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done. I loved this fob from the minute I saw it! I will get you back though. ;)

Isn't it soooo cute???? The girls were drooling over it yesterday. "You don't need that do you mom??" HA! :P

So I got to stitch a bit. We played games too, so I didn't get very much done. I hope you can see a difference!

(I have NO idea why it turned this picture sideways!! SORRY)

Well have a great Tuesday everyone. 9 DAYS till Christmas! Stay warm and happy stitching!!!

Snow day!!!!

WOOHOOO!!! Well we got 4 calls (because of 4 children) from the super this morning at 6 AM saying school was delayed 2 hours. Then at 7 AM we got 4 more calls saying school was canceled because of the ice and cold. Wooohoo. So here we are:

Photobucket

Photobucket

I have been up since 2 AM, so I took a mini nap and may take another one here after lunch. Kids have rooms clean and clean laundry put away so they are watching Hoodwinked. After they are done with that, I have a TON of Hallmark movies to watch from the DVR. I am going to be working on this, perfect for a snow day!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Also, we put up the tree yesterday. Here it is! (I love purple if you can't tell although I would LOVE to have a pink one some day!! ;) )

Anyway, have a wonderful Monday everyone! Happy Stitching!!!

Brrrr it's cold outside!!!

Well we haven't had as much of a storm as to the West of us, but it is snowing, windy and COLD! Good day to stay inside. We have been playing games and a bit of chores. Going to eat lunch now and I am thinking about watching some Christmas movies and sti
tching.

I have three finishes to share, but my camera is charging.

First one is SMO Doodle #4:

Next is SMO Doodle #5:

At last but not least is SMO Merry Christmas:

I am sauteing onions and frying up some maple bacon. Then I will melt cheese on some tortillas and cut up some fresh tomato. YUM!!! I have no idea what to have for dinner. After cooking all week my mind is blank. Good thing Jeff is home but if he gets called out, well heck we might just make it a junk food night wink wink ;)

So is everyone ready for Christmas? We are! The tree is the only thing not up yet. I am thinking later today or tomorrow. This next week will be busy because we have family conference at church all week. Plus 2 Christmas programs.

Well have a wonderful Saturday. (I will be back later to post those pictures!) Happy stitching!

Today the sun is shining and it is a beaUtiful day!!! I wish I could take a walk but my knees wouldn't let me. So this weekend is pretty busy. Lex is going on a little cruise with some youth from church and surrounding churches tomorrow. Brittany has Sat school because of missing assignments. Hunter's school is having a Winterfest so Jeff will take him. My knees would bother me so I doubt I will go. We are also cleaning carpets this weekend. K's paw bled last night but also from Ellie getting sick. They just need to be cleaned. We cleaned them about 2 months ago but want to get them done before we decorate for Christmas!!!!

Sunday of course is church in the AM, and then in the PM we have Christmas play practice and church.

Well I hope everyone has a fabUlous Friday and happy stitching!!!

(Everyone should be safe because I can hear a few FROGS under my house!! HEHEHEHE!! I will keep em there for you!!)

Gift of gab!

Some people have it, some don't. I seem to, really bad at times! LOL

So I completely forgot to post about DH's uncle, who had heart surgery on Monday. He had a tumor on one of his heart valves. No damage was done to the valve, the tumor was large, but they are going to test it now I guess. Please pray for him and for Jeff's mom and grandma who are there taking care of him.

We have been sitting down as a family every night and reading a few chapters of the Bible. I tell you this has been a real blessing to our family. We aren't plopped in front of the TV, but sitting, communicating and learning together.

Today, Hunter has a procedure at the dentist, so we will be there for a few hours today. Please pray for him as well. He is such a trooper.

Didn't end up stitching much yesterday. Did some stuff with the kids, homework, play practice etc. I am reading and reviewing a book that will be out sometime in 2009. It is really good, I can hardly put it down! I hated to go take a shower! LOL

Last night after reading our chapters and Lex going to dance, the girls and I did facials again. I am reviewing an acne cleaner system, and I thought it would be good to see the results on a 14, 12 and 10 year old and not just me, to see what it does. Then we clipped toenails, painted them and then massaged them with dead sea salt! It was really fun.

Anyway, I have to go get ready for the day, but everyone have a great Wednesday!

Love is in the air!

I am sooo bad! I started a Valentine piece. I just felt like doing PINK and HEARTS!! So I am doing LOVE by SMO. I will post pictures later. I will also post pictures of our Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time, I hope everyone did as well.

An hour before we were supposed to eat, Ellie got sick to her stomach. So she slept the rest of the day. We played games and watched movies. Sometime during that time, I went to go get up and a ligament in my knee twisted. Talk about pain! Everyone could hear it, and it did it again on Sunday. So I am a limper right now.

Friday Jeff worked to help put Christmas lights up for the city. Lex has a friend from class that has a not so good situation at home and so he has been coming over to eat and have somewhere warm to go.

Saturday we went and picked up our Christmas pictures! They are awesome!!! I don't remember what else we did. Sunday we went to church, came home, watched football and rested a bit. Then back to church.

I haven't stitched very much. I had to frog the cookie one I was working on. Then I had gotten a bit farther, but the frog has come again, so I am frustrated with it!

Well I can't believe it is Dec 2 already! Where has the time gone? I hope everyone stays warm and has a wonderful Tuesday!

Queen of the UFOs!!

I think I am queen of the UFOs. If I ONLY worked on UFO's for my goal of 50 pieces in 2009, I would have MORE than enough projects! EEKS!

Ok, on to better things. I started and finished SMO Let it snow. It is just a little thing, but it turned out cute!

Photobucket

Then I finished Holiday Jumble by SMO.

Photobucket

Off to work on All hearts come home for cookies by SMO!

Photobucket

Happy Stitching! (I also pulled out Nose Garden by SMO to work on today. I am hoping maybe I can finish that one for sure!! Then 2 UFO's would be gone!!! HOORAY!!)

UT OH!!!

Ut oh! Startitis has struck, and I can't help myself this time! I went through all my SMO's. I have a HUGE folder of Christmas. So I will finish a few small ones this Thanksgiving 4 day weekend. Hehehe!!! Anyone else been struck by startitis?

(Off to get kids, have fun!)

Happy Thanksgiving eve!

Happy early Thanksgiving everyone! I hope everyone has safe travels and a wonderful time with family and friends. We are staying home and just having a good time together.

Last night we had an awesome time of fellowship at the church and awesome food! I said we don't need to eat Thursday we ate so much last night! I will probably have a finish to share tonight!

I have a darn migraine so that has put a damper on my stitching this morning. I have to go get kids in a few minutes. Going to make bacon and cheese quesadillas when they get home. Maybe watch some movies and try and get rid of this migraine.

Blessings to everyone. Happy stitching if you get any done!!!

Look what came out to play!!!

This SMO board member only chart came out to play today! Here are some pictures before I started stitching on it! I hope to finish it too. There are two others that came out to play but I will share those later! Happy stitching!

(If I am going to play Christmas music, might as well stitch festive stuff right?!?)

Birthdays, bowling and severe nausea

Well this weekend FLEW by! Friday during the day I went to Yakima with Tracy. We had a blast shopping!!! It wore me out though! Friday night, himself took Brittany and her friend to The Dalles to see Twilight. I wouldn't have done it. The movie didn't start until 9:20. That is a LONG day when you have worked all day and are waiting for the teens to come out of the movie! This is my son, the warrior!

Photobucket

Anyway, so Ellie spent the weekend at a friend's. So that left Lex, Hunter and I. Bubba went to bed so Lex and I watched The Love Guru. I fell asleep, naturally! If it is evening, everyone knows I will NOT make it through the first 10 minutes and if I do, it must be an awesome movie! The next day Jeff had to go finish the trees from last weekend, so Brittany, Lex, Britt's friend and I watched The Strangers. It was good, but not too impressive, I thought anyway.

Then Sat afternoon Lex's friend came over and Britt's went home. Here is Lex opening up a few presents!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then we all went bowling and out to eat. This is where I was struck by SEVERE nausea. I have been feeling sick for about the past month in the AM, for about 3 hours each day. But never at night. I couldn't stand any smells or anything! Didn't get sick though. Then we came home and had cake. Of course I fell asleep watching Ironman! Sunday we went to church, came home, ate lunch, switched kids and headed to The Dalles to get groceries and our Thanksgiving meal. We had 10 minutes before we had to be back at church! We made it though. Yesterday I raked leaves and stacked wood for awhile. Last night the nausea got the best of me again. I still have it this morning, but I ate some toast and am drinking (no not soda either!!) so we shall see.

Tonight is our church Thanksgiving. We are making a potato dish that is my MIL's recipe.

Stitchy news. I got a little more done, as you can see. I went through magazines yesterday. I really really had the itch to start something new. Startistis tried to strike, but I resisted!!! (Patting myself on the back!) Just the thought of if I passed, and my family was going through my stuff, they would shake their heads wondering what I was doing with so many unfinished projects!

Well have a terrific Tuesday!

Why?

Why, Why, Why? Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are almost dead?

Why do banks charge a fee on 'insufficient funds' when they already know there is not enough money?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars; but have to check when you say the paint is still wet?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an 'S' in the word 'lisp'?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, 'It's all right?' Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, 'That really hurt, why don't you watch where you're going?'

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the h ouse as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE......The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.
