The Buddha in the Attic by Julie OtsukaMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Hard to get the hang of it in the beginning, but even harder to put down in the end!
This historical fiction story of sorts, is a beautiful synopsis of Japanese Americans - what they went through coming to America, all thing they were promised only to find out they were lies and be stuck. Yet they stuck it out, worked for pennies, had children. I ended up loving how it was written, just a huge mix of so many different people.
How can you not love this tiny book packed with a punch? Makes you really think. Makes me want to research this subject more.
Aren't we all in essence migrators?
Beautifully written book, Julie Otsuka is a master of a beautiful heritage.
