Review: The Bikini Car Wash by Pamela Morsi

An eye full and the perfect end of the summer beach read!!! The Bikini Car Wash isn't what it really seems. I know some people will think, a bikini car wash? I don't want to read that! However, it goes beyond that. It is about fighting for something you want and believe in; finding out who you really are and love. I always love a good love story. Who doesn't? Pamela Morsi outdid herself with this one though!

I was stumped at first wondering what Pop was up to, sneaking around like that. I had my suspicions, but it was a surprise! Jelly is such a lovable character, with her Law & Order dialog. The romance between Pete and Andi was easy to see coming, but still very cute and romantic. I read this book in such a short time, Ms. Morsi writes with such ease you don't even realize how fast the pages fly by!

When Andi comes home to help take care of Jelly after their mom has passed, she applies for a job at Gutherie's Foods, to be only told she has too much experience. So her dad's old car wash has just been sitting there, wasting space. She goes in front of the town counsel to ask if she could get it rezoned for a coffee shop, only to be denied.

So she has a bit of help coming up with the bikini car wash; but they get it going. Despite a lot of people in town not wanting them to be clothed in so little -- In spite of all the negativity they end up pretty successful --

I will leave the rest for you to find out, you make sure you put this in your beach bag and take it with you, or on a long flight too! Enjoy!!!

Review: A Desirable Residence by Madeleine Wickham

Things come full circle in A Desirable Residence by Madeleine Wickham. A family of three purchases a tutorial college and moves into the flat above it, hoping to sell their house -- What ends up happening is the married woman falls in love with the real estate agent, has an affair and falls deeply in love with the idea of having money and no worries that he does. However, the real estate agent is married as well. Their lives end up entertwining and coming to a climax in the end.

Meanwhile, the real estate agent had a temporary fix for them until the house sold, renting it out to a PR person from the firm. Ginny and her actor boyfriend Piers have drama of their own.

There is no shortage of drama and more drama in this book. It didn't have my attention for many pages but when it was climaxing and coming to a head, it made for a very interesting read. Beautiful ending!!!! I truly enjoyed it!

Review:

Fried Fridays

It is Fried Friday! So glad it is the weekend! I have been engrossed in A Desirable Residence by Madeleine Wickham and am almost done. It is an ok story, hasn't really grabbed me. The whole cheating thing bothers me but I hope they both come to their senses.

So what are you reading this holiday weekend? I will be finishing Amandine by Marlena De Blasi. It is a really good book but I wanted to get a few library books read.

Next 5 will be:

Molly Fox's Birthday by Deirdre Madden
An Unfinished Score by Elise Blackwell
The Hand That First Held Mine by Maggie O'Farrell
Honeysuckle Summer by Sherryl Woods
The Rebellion of Jane Clarke by Sally Gunning

So my QOTD is, in what form do you receive news? Paper, internet or TV?

So, last night 2 of my good friends and I went to the "big" city. Big for us, considering there are only about 3700 people in our town. So we always have to visit Borders. A fire alarm went off and they asked us after about TEN minutes of this thing blaring and us trying to find each other to leave. So what do we do? Follow the firemen carrying their axes around...hehehe.. Can't take us anywhere.

Happy Reading!

Summer..

is just a chirp away. I wish I could share it. I will have to work on that this week! The piece is done, it is a freebie for San Man Originals newsletter subscribers. There is a companion piece, a spring one that might be on my list next month or if I CAN get the other stuff done! I am on the move though! Lately I finished This Old Man Came Rolling Home, and the 2008 March Swirly.. Then the only thing I have on Summer is just a chirp away is one of the symbols is not correct so I am waiting to hear what it is. If anyone hear's before me, would you be so kind as to let me know?? The grass is what I am waiting for! Thanks!

Now on to Love Ewe. When I saw this one in the newsletter it was a MUST have!! I don't know about you but I love lambs!! So cute and the colors are soooo beautiful. Sandy always knocks it out of the park!

Ok, off to do more stitching! Take care and may all your X's be crossed ---

Review: Sima's Undergarmets for Women

Don't walk when this book releases, RUN! Run and get it quick!!!!! This will be one you will want to add to your bookshelf of favorites!

Here is my review:

I was sure I would enjoy this book before I got it, and I am so utterly thrilled I got to read it. Ilana Stanger - Ross hit the mark. Sima is a married woman, unable to have children. She has an undergarmet store in her basement, just like many of her neighbors who have stores out of their basements. It is what she is. One day a young woman comes into the store. Sima was taken by her beauty. This woman comes back, and asks for a job as the seamstress. Timna ends up feeling like a daughter to Sima, Sima fully taken with her.

However, Timna ends up teaching Sima lots of things, without even knowing it. Sima finds her "older" self, and deals with the loss of not having children.

It moves back and forth in time a bit but you won't even notice. You will fall in love with Sima, she has such a wonderful personality. It is characters like her that make me love reading!

I think this book would be wonderful to give all my friends, my mom and anyone who enjoys finding out who you are and second chances, as Sima might get one with Lev!

I loved this book, I didn't want to put it down at night and I will recommend it to everyone. It goes month by month, kind of counting down to the eventual leaving of Timna, such a clever idea!
